Biography

Former French national football team player, Mathieu grew up and studied in Marseille before becoming a professional football player in 2003, playing for prestigious teams such as Olympique de Marseille (France), Arsenal F.C (UK), and A.C Milan (Italy). In parallel to his football career, Mathieu joined in 2016 the Environmental Excellence Committee for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Also, in 2018, Mathieu was selected to be part of the Young Global Leaders, from the Davos World Economic Forum.

Mathieu is also Entrepreneur-in-Residence of the Atomico investment fund, specialized in new technologies and among the largest in Europe, settled by Niklaass Zennström, founder of Skype. Mathieu co-founded GFBIochemicals in 2013, headquartered in France, and with operations worldwide. GFBiochemicals is a pioneer company in the green chemistry sector. The company has developed and patented technologies to produce the platform molecule of levulinic acid and its derivatives. This molecule has been recognized by the US Department of Energy as one of the 12 molecules that can replace the many harmful ingredients derived from oil. The mission of the company is to make everyday products safe and sustainable.
