Minister
Forest Economy, Congo
Dr Rosalie Matondo has been the Republic of Congo's Minister of Forest Economy since April 2016. In addition to her political and strategic involvement, she is also a field woman committed to conservation. From 2007 to 2016 she held various positions of responsibility within the Congolese state: Director of the national reforestation service, national coordinator of the national afforestation and reforestation program and advisor to the head of state. She holds a PhD in plant biotechnology from the Institute of Genetic Engineering at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Kostinbrod.
Minister Matondo is passionate about the cause of indigenous peoples and is the current ambassador for community forests in the Congo Basin. She is also versed in passing on knowledge to young people, and has been involved in teaching for many years at Brazzaville's Marien Ngouabi University and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et de Foresterie.
