As a national focal point for several multilateral biodiversity-related conventions, H.E. Hiba Al Shehhi has played a key role in the UAE's achievement of first place globally in the Natural Marine Protected Areas Index. Her leadership has been instrumental in establishing strategic partnerships to declare protected areas across the nation.
H.E. Hiba Al Shehhi spearheaded the development of the UAE's first national strategies for the conservation of sharks, turtles, biodiversity, and efforts to combat desertification. She has been a driving force behind key executive decisions, such as the ban on the removal and export of shark fins to protect endangered species and policies aimed at preserving native plant species.
She holds a master’s degree in ecology, has conducted numerous studies on insects, outside of work, H.E. Hiba Al Shehhi dedicates her time to volunteering in environmental research and raising public awareness about conservation.
