A graduate in political science, PhD, and a lawyer specializing in environmental law, Maud Lelièvre has defended environmental cases since the beginning of her professional career, such as the Erika oil spill (1999) and various international cases, notably in Africa. Committed during her 20-year career to the protection of the environment, she has participated in various COP Biodiversity and international negotiations in this field. General Delegate of an international association of green cities, she designs programs to help preserve nature. She is also a member of the BirdLife Office in France and she leads an international network of women for biodiversity to help women's international involvement through gender policies. She has been a member of the IUCN Council since September 2021.
