Biography

After obtaining a Master's degree in history from the University of Nancy II, Serge Wilmes graduated with a Master's degree in European Contemporary History from the University of Luxembourg in 2006. Between 2007 and 2008, Serge Wilmes worked for the National Archives, before serving as parliamentary adviser to the Christian Social political group (CSV) from 2008 to 2011. After being elected President of the Christian Social Youth (CSJ) in 2008, Serge Wilmes became President of the CSV Stad in 2016. From 2017 to 2023, he was first alderman of the City of Luxembourg, with responsibility for urban development, public spaces, architecture, green spaces/forests and the environment and climate. From 2011 to 2023, Serge Wilmes was a Member of Parliament for the Centre constituency. Following the legislative elections of 8 October 2023, Serge Wilmes was appointed Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity and Minister for the Civil Service on 17 November 2023 in the coalition government between the Christian Social Party (CSV) and the Democratic Party (DP).
