Lead AI researcher

Conservation X Labs

Biography

Dante leads the AI & Machine Learning team on the Sentinel project within Conservation X Labs. Sentinel plugs into existing monitoring tools and equips them with state of the art AI capacities and communication protocols converting passive sensors into smart, connected devices that can autonomously gather and transmit relevant biodiversity information from anywhere in the world. Sentinel has garnered attention through numerous awards (AI for the Planet, Best edge AI product from the edge AI & Vision Alliance among others) and 100s of devices are currently being deployed across 10 countries directly supporting researchers and conservationists in the field.

Originally trained in Biology, Dante holds a PhD in Computational & Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Oxford. He researches, deploys and scales AI and deep-learning algorithms within the context of Nature Conservation to detect endangered & invasive species and quantify animal behavior & health in real time. He believes that the latest technological developments in AI bear enormous potential that should be leveraged quickly and effectively to protect ecosystems and their inhabitants.
